The first of our art collabs is with the artist LarotK who wishes to donate all of the proceeds from the sale of his work to Soul Food. We are excited to feature three of his limited edition, original pieces, each of which features an iconic cultural figure.

Artist: Based in Paris in the 18th arrondissement, LarotK is originally from Brest (Brittany). He uses traditional and digital drawing techniques.

Piece: “G.G.” Risographed drawing (Maison Riso) in 53 copies on Munken print 115g paper

Inspiration: Gilberto Gil photographed in 2020 by Daryan Dornelles.

The technique used: According to the printing studio Maison Riso, "Risography is close to mechanized screen printing. A risograph is a type of duplicator: a machine based on the technique of reproduction by stencil, allowing for prints with a very graphic rendering, in large quantities. The shape of the current risograph emerged in the 1980s, but the principle dates back to the mimeograph. Its name comes from RISO Kagaku Corporation, a Japanese firm named after its inventor."

The paper is made from 100% recycled paper pulp.

The inks are made from soybean vegetable oil or rice waste, they are of recycled origin, recyclable, do not contain Volatile Organic Compounds (V.O.V.), and their manufacture does not waste raw materials.

  • This print is one of only 53 created, so don't wait to place your order!

RISO duplicating ink is soy based. The fluorescent green pigment used for your risography is a fragile emulsion which can "drool" if rubbed. Take care of it!
